The 2024 WNBA regular season was complete with legendary performances and broken records.

Among the record breakers was A'ja Wilson, who broke both the league's single-season scoring and rebounding records, and Caitlin Clark, who broke the WNBA's single-season assists record as a rookie.

For her efforts, Wilson was unanimously named Most Valuable Player of the 2024 season. As Clark is the presumptive favorite to be named Rookie of the Year, will she also earn the honor unanimously?

Ahead of the award's official announcement, here is a closer look at why Clark may not take home all of the first-place votes for Rookie of the Year.

Will Caitlin Clark be unanimous Rookie of the Year?

Clark turned in one of the best rookie seasons in WNBA history but winning Rookie of the Year unanimously is no guarantee.

Standing in the way of Clark's path to a unanimous win is Chicago's Angel Reese, who also turned in a historic rookie campaign in 2024. After leading the league in rebounds per game and breaking the rookie record for double-doubles, Reese earned one fourth-place MVP vote.

Clark and Reese were the only two rookies to earn consideration for the 2024 MVP.

WNBA Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year are voted on by the same panel of voters, meaning the voter who gave Reese a fourth-place MVP vote could also give Chicago's standout a first-place vote in MVP voting.

It is worth noting, however, that same voter could have given Clark one of the six third-place MVP votes she received, again clearing the path for a potential unanimous award win.

Clark finished fourth in MVP voting while Reese finished 12th. Here is a voting breakdown for them in comparison to winner A'ja Wilson and other notable finalists.
