Iga Swiatek on Saturday will look to earn her third singles title of the 2023 season with a win over Karolina Muchova in the French Open — and her first grand slam trophy of the year.

Should the world No. 1 beat Muchova, it would mark the third French Open title of her career and fourth singles grand slam championship. Whether she can beat Muchova remains to be seen, though she has emerged as the clear favorite at Roland-Garros.

Swiatek has made short work of her competition thus far, beating each of her opponents in Paris in straight sets. That includes four shutout sets and a complete third-round shutout of Xinyu Wang, whom she beat 6-0, 6-0 for a rare "double bagel." She had it even easier in the fourth round as Lesia Tsurenko retired due to injury down 5-1 in the opening set and beat world No. 6 Coco Gauff 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

She got her best competition from Beatriz Haddad Maia in the semifinals, winning 6-2 in the first set before heading to a tiebreak in the second. She ultimately won 7-6 (9) to set up the finals meeting with unseeded Muchova.

But the heavy underdog has already scored an upset at the French Open, upending World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka in three sets — including two tiebreakers — to enter the finals. Win or lose, it will be her best career singles finish at Roland-Garros.
