There's a London derby on game week one in the Premier League this weekend as Brentford and Tottenham lock horns at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Thomas Frank's home side enjoyed another stellar season last time around, finishing ninth and missing out on European football by just two points. They'll be expecting more of the same this campaign, though the loss of Ivan Toney until January through suspension is a huge blow.
As for visiting Spurs, well it's been another turbulent summer headlined by the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich which leaves a huge void upfront for the away side.
That said, the acquisitions of James Maddison and Micky van de Ven in particular look impressive on paper as Spurs look towards a potential top-four finish this season.

Brentford vs Tottenham best bet
- Pick: Both teams to score
- Odds: -165 (BetMGM)
Last season proved to be a nightmare from a defensive perspective for Spurs. Conceding 63 goals across their 38 Premier League matches, no side who finished in the top 15 of the league came anywhere close to conceding as many.
Micky van de Ven has been brought in from Wolfsburg in order to shore up that backline but with him only joining the club this week, holes will still be evident in this match and we just can't see the visitors holding out for a clean sheet.
As for Brentford, well they impressed on home soil last season on the goalscoring front — only twice across their 19 home league outings did they fail to score.
That said, the hosts did concede quite a few goals at the Gtech Community Stadium with 58% of their home league matches witnessing both sides score. That included a 2-2 draw with Spurs.
Brentford vs Tottenham flier bet
- Pick: Tottenham winning at half time / Draw at full time
- Odds: +1150 (BetMGM)
At +1150 this is a real flier pick but one that certainly has plenty of potential.
That's because Spurs were notorious last season for dropping points from winning positions, something that sunk their hopes of gaining European qualification. In fact, the visitors managed to drop 18 points in such fashion, a figure only topped by four other clubs of which two were relegated..
