The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) from the Las Vegas Strip introduced several new events this year, including the Mystery Millions, which included a $1,000,000 bounty and a $1,000,000 first-place prize.

An enormous 18,188-entrant field participated in Event #3: $1,000 Mystery Millions to create the fifth-largest WSOP tournament in its 54-year history. The field was so large that two $1,000,000 bounties were awarded on Day 2, as Shant Marashlian and Patrick Liang each pocketed the grand prize.

The final day brought back 30 players, and with the pace of play seeing continuous eliminations, the final table was quickly reached and live-streamed exclusively on PokerGO.com. Guang Chen led the eight survivors and survived until heads-up play when he faced off with Tyler Brown.

With Chen holding the lead, he called a raise from the big blind with king-nine and watched the flop land 2-3-3. Chen checked, and Brown continued with a bet. Chen made a big check-raise, and Brown called with his ace-high and straight draw.

The turn landed a queen, and Chen immediately moved all-in. Brown went deep into the tank before making the biggest "hero call" of his poker career:

Brown had picked off Chen’s bluff to table the winning hand, and when the river was a blank, Brown doubled to hold a huge chip lead. The amazing call in a spot where a million-dollar payday was at risk sent shockwaves around the poker world, with everyone discussing Brown’s call for days to come.

The Mystery Millions concluded shortly after one of the biggest hero calls of the year, with Brown defeating Chen to be awarded the $1,000,000 first-place prize and his first WSOP bracelet.
