The Scripps National Spelling Bee annually showcases the very best and brightest students, and this year's edition is no different. At least one student will join the 107 champions whose spelling skills have paid off in a big way.

The Scripps National Spelling Bee first took place in 1925, when nine newspapers came together to hold the event. While World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic forced the spelling bee to take some time off, this is the 95th edition of the storied event.

This year's competition will feature two of last year's finalists who are back and looking to finish the job, and the event will also include four 9-year-old students aiming to shock a field that features 73 14-year-olds. The spelling bee field will have at least one speller from every state.
