Katie Ledecky and Caeleb Dressel headline the group of American swimmers competing in Paris. The two are some of the most decorated ever with each owning seven Olympic golds and hoping to add more over the next few weeks.
Simone Manuel joins the pair as a returning medalist, and she, like Dressel, is in a spot where she's just happy to be competing again after dealing with the effects of burnout. In a time when mental health is prioritized for athletes, their respective stories of knowing they needed time away and then coming back to qualify for the Olympic Games will be celebrated and used as motivation for many.
The American trio is joined in being medal favorites by the likes of Leon Merchand (France), Summer McIntosh (Canada), Adam Peaty (Great Britan), and Ariarne Titmus (Australia), among others.
