Women's water polo has been a competition of dominance for Team USA since the competition began in 2000. Team USA comes to Paris with its eyes set on capturing a seventh overall medal and fourth consecutive gold, making it the first team, women's or men's, to win four straight.
U.S. coach Adam Kirkorian's group is led by team captain and four-time Olympian Maggie Steffens along with veterans Ashleigh Johnson, Maddie Musselman, Rachel Fattal and Kaleigh Gilchrist.
The Americans will face stiff competition from Simone van de Kraats and the high-scoring Netherlands, as well as Bea Ortiz and Spain who left Tokyo with the Silver.
