After some exciting pool play and play-in matchups, the semifinals for Olympic women's basketball 3x3 are set.
Germany and Spain moved into Monday's semifinals after finishing in the top two spots at the end of pool play, while the defending champion U.S. team and Canada won their respective play-in games to advance.
The U.S. beat China 21-13 behind nine points from Dearica Hamby. Team USA has turned its tournament around after an 0-3 start and has won five straight games. The U.S. becomes the only team in the women's field that has played in the semifinals in both Tokyo and Paris Olympics.
“We needed those three losses to wake us up and while we may be more talented, we had to figure out a way to dig deep and compete,” Hamby said.
The team, comprised of Hamby, Cierra Burdick, Hailey Van Lith, and Rhyne Howard will take on Spain on Monday, who went 4-3 in pool play.
Canada posted a 21-10 victory over Australia in their play-in game. They'll face a tough Germany team that went 6-1 in pool play.
