It's only three regular season weeks into his second New York Jets' stint, and right tackle Morgan Moses has made his presence amply felt.
Having played 100 percent of offensive snaps up until his second-half exit from the Jets' 24-3 win over the New England Patriots, Moses suffered a left knee injury on the final play of the third quarter on Thursday Night Football. First-round rookie Olu Fashanu came on in relief of Moses at right tackle for the entire fourth quarter.
"He's getting some tests. The early feel is decent, but like I said, until we get the MRIs and all that stuff to confirm everything," said fourth-year head coach Robert Saleh.
The speculation is that Moses does not have a season-ending injury, but instead the 33-year-old bookend suffered an MCL sprain that will cost him a few weeks. Although nothing has been made official, reports suggest the Jets have avoided disaster with their starting right tackle.
In addition to stabilizing what was a troubled spot for New York last year, Moses was apparently well received by his teammates. Jets' primary running back Breece Hall suggested that Moses has already become a team leader.
"Pray for Big Mo❤️🤞🏾Unsung hero of our locker room man make sure yall send one up for him tn 🙏🏾," said Hall in an X post.
Hall finished the Week 3 win with 83 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown. He has seemingly developed a bond with the team's offensive lineman, especially Moses and fellow former Baltimore Ravens' starter John Simpson. After Hall was excessively slammed to the turf by New England linebacker Jahlani Tavai following a play on Thursday night, Simpson promptly rushed up to the offender and got in his face.
