The Washington Commanders released kicker Cade York

Drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of LSU, York spent his rookie season with the Browns, followed by a stint on the Titans practice squad and the New York Giants last season.

He rejoined the Browns in 2024 but was traded to the Commanders for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.  The Browns will not get the conditional pick because York needed to be on the Commanders roster for two games.

York had early success, ironically against Baker Mayfield.  In his first NFL game in 2022, he hit a 58-yard game-winning field goal against Mayfield's Carolina Panthers.

On Sunday, York was on the opposite team of Baker Mayfield yet again and did not have the answers. He converted two extra points.  The field goal misses were from 47 and 56 yards.  He also sent a kickoff out of bounds.
