The Jacksonville Jaguars just made Trevor Lawrence the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history tied with Joe Burrow on a five-year extension worth $275 million with $200 million guaranteed and $142 fully guaranteed at signing.

The big question with this deal is if Lawrence is worth it? It's a complicated question that needs a lot of nuance. Lawrence might be just 20-30 as a starter, but he's carried a mostly paltry Jaguars team. The stats don't necessarily bear it out either, as Lawrence has 11,770 passing yards, 58 touchdowns and 39 interceptions across 50 career games. He does have 964 career rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.

The one thing that does matter with Lawrence is the film. He makes some bonkers plays and highlight reel throws consistently. That matters more than his raw stats will. Plus, the extension is getting done going into year four, which is likely going to save the Jaguars money.

It also matters that he beat the likes of Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, Jordan Love and Tua Tagovailoa to the punch, as Lawrence would have likely gotten more than all of them if they had signed first.

Across the board, the overwhelming response from those who cover the game are very bullish on the move and they made their opinions known.
