Travis Kelce has made a career out of consistent high-level play at the tight end position for the Chiefs

However, Kansas City's star hasn't been as productive as he usually is to begin the 2024 season. In Week 2 vs. the Bengals, Kelce's name wasn't mentioned very often as the Chiefs won 26-25 to start their season 2-0.

Here's what to know about Kelce's start to the 2024 season and his numbers from the matchup vs. Cincinnati.

Did Travis Kelce play in Week 2 vs. the Bengals?

Yes, Kelce played for the Chiefs against the Bengals in Week 2.

It took him until the end of the first half to make his first catch, but Kelce remained on the field as a big-time target for Patrick Mahomes.

There has been no indication an injury is holding Kelce back, as he's simply been less involved in his team's offensive gameplan.

It isn't very easy to contain Kelce, one of the game's best tight ends, so even if his numbers weren't eye-popping this week, he'll likely be a big piece for his team moving forward.

Travis Kelce stats vs. Bengals

By the end of the matchup on Sunday, Kelce had totaled one catch for five yards and one rush for one yard against the Bengals. He did have a 51-yard catch in the fourth quarter that was called back because of a holding penalty, but otherwise, the Chiefs TE was a non-factor.

In Week 1, Kelce finished with three catches for 34 yards, a relatively quiet season-opening performance for the star.

However, the Chiefs' offense has been moving fine without much production from Kelce. Against the Ravens last week, Kansas City scored 27 points in a win, and in the team's Week 2 win vs. the Bengals, it had 26 points.

His quiet start to the season is surprising after years of dominance, but the Chiefs have managed to maintain their winning ways anyway. Kelce should find more of a rhythm as the season goes on, but for the first time in his career, the 34-year-old tight end has shown some signs of slowing down, at least for the time being.
