The spending spree continued for the Texans this offseason.

Houston agreed to a three-year, $72.75 million extension with wide receiver Nico Collins, according to multiple reports. Collins will make around $24 million per year, which ranks seventh among all receivers in the NFL. He will also make $52 million guaranteed with his new contract.

Collins enjoyed a breakout third season with the Texans in his first year with quarterback C.J. Stroud. He caught 80 receptions for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games in 2023.

There was also a question as to what the Texans would do with Collins — especially after the trade for Stefon Diggs. Both were impending free agents after 2024 after Houston restructured Diggs' contract, which could have left general manager Nick Caserio with a decision to make at wide receiver this offseason.

At least a portion of that decision was made when he handed Collins this new deal, though. This locks Collins in with Stroud and fellow 2023 draft pick and wide receiver Tank Dell for the next three seasons in what is already one of the top pass-catching groups in the league.

Naturally, fans were thrilled to see the Texans hand Collins a new deal. Collins is also Caserio's first draft pick to earn an extension since he took over as general manager.
