Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cameron Sutton has been suspended for the first eight games of the coming 2024 season, the NFL announced on Monday.

Sutton’s suspension stems from a league investigation after he was charged with misdemeanor battery earlier in the year.

Sutton spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Steelers before joining the Detroit Lions in the 2023 offseason. The Lions released Sutton in March shortly after details of his case became public.

The Steelers signed Sutton to a one-year deal in June.

Due to his suspension, Sutton will miss the Steelers’ first eight games of the season. With Pittsburgh on a bye week in Week 9, Sutton’s first potential game action could come in Week 10 when the Steelers head to Washington to take on the Commanders.
