The Green Goblin is available. Should the Philadelphia Eagles explore a reunion?
With veteran defensive back James Bradberry out for the foreseeable future, the Eagles could bring back a familiar face in Jalen Mills for secondary depth.
Mills broke into the league with Philadelphia as a seventh-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and was a key part of the team’s Super Bowl run a year later. He even transitioned from cornerback to safety during his three-year stint with the New England Patriots, so the move would make some sense from a versatility standpoint.
We can assume Mills would be interested in returning to the 215. He entered training camp with the New York Giants this summer nursing a calf injury, and was released on Aug. 15 before he could even get on the field for a practice. A few days later, Mills shared this on his Instagram story, hinting at a possible return to Philly:
The Eagles do have some recent history of reuniting with a former defensive starter. In March, the team signed safety C.J. Gardner Johnson to a three-year contract, just one year after the two sides awkwardly parted ways in free agency.
Gardner Johnson recently weighed in on the possibility of Mills following a similar path, essentially tweeting “thanks but no thanks.”

Mills played a critical role in the Eagles' run to Super Bowl LII, starting all three playoff games and finishing with a career-high three interceptions on the season. With safety depth now in question, it's possible the Goblin is wearing green again in the near future.
