Matthew Stafford is set to lead the Rams' offense for the fourth straight season in 2024.

The veteran has been QB1 in Los Angeles since he arrived via trade before the 2021 season when he went on to lead the team to a Super Bowl title.

He's had a cycle of backups behind him over his time with the Rams, and high-profile ones at that. Last year, it was veteran Carson Wentz who finished the season in that role. In 2022, the Rams had Baker Mayfield behind Stafford.

With Wentz now in Kansas City, the Rams' QB depth chart has a different look than it did in 2023.

The Sporting News fills you in on how the Rams' quarterback depth chart is set up for the 2024 season.

Rams QB depth chart

1. Matthew Stafford

Barring any injuries, the 36-year old Stafford will be throwing the ball in Los Angeles again throughout the 2024 season.

Even with his age, Stafford hasn't shown many signs of slowing down. In 2023, he finished with 3,965 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Throwing the ball to a pair of star receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua undoubtedly will help him age well, but Stafford remains one of the league's steadiest presences at QB either way heading into 2024.

2. Stetson Bennett

At least to begin the season, Stetson Bennett will be the Rams' QB2.

Drafted in the fourth round in 2023, Bennett did not see any game action last season. He was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list last September, which he later confirmed was related to taking care of his mental health, per ESPN

After he was initially expected to back up Stafford last season, 2024 will now be Bennett's first shot in the NFL.

In August, the Georgia product finished with 224 passing yards, a touchdown, and four interceptions in his first preseason game since 2023, but also tossed the game-winning touchdown.

Bennett has the backup role locked down for the time being, but that could change in the near future.

3. Jimmy Garrapolo (suspended)

Former Patriot, 49er, and Raider Jimmy Garrapolo is the only other quarterback on Los Angeles' roster, but he is ineligible to play in the season's first two games.

In February, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Garrapolo would be suspended two games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substances policy, which was related to Garrapolo "using a prescribed medication without having a therapeutic use exemption from the league."

The Raiders released Garrapolo just one season after signing him to a three-year, $72.75 million contract, and the Rams swooped in and inked him on a one-year deal in the offseason.

Once he's eligible to return, Garrpolo will at minimum offer more veteran experience behind Stafford. The 32-year-old had nine interceptions in seven games for Las Vegas in 2023, but a solid 16 touchdowns to four interceptions across 11 games for San Fransisco in 2022.
