Raiders call it quits with OL D.J. Fluker

The Las Vegas Raiders made a roster move on Friday, with the team announcing the release of veteran offensive lineman, D.J. Fluker.

Fluker, who garnered some hype after a few years out of the league following an impressive workout at the Alabama Pro Day last year, was originally inked to the Raiders' practice squad in December. He did not appear in a game.

Las Vegas then re-upped with Fluker via a reserve/future contract in January that was worth $1.2 million. However, none of that money was guaranteed, thus releasing him won't cost any dead cap.

It remains to be seen what's behind the release, but the move is a tad surprising considering how early we are in the offseason and the team's need for options at guard. Fluker wasn't expected to win a starting job by any means, but he figured to get at least get a look for a depth role.

Fluker was originally drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft (No. 11 overall), but things didn't pan out for him and he was ultimately out of the league by 2021 before attempting a comeback.
