It didn’t take long for a former Philadelphia Eagles player to find a new home.

Seeking help in the offensive trenches due to injuries, the Eagles signed a free agent this week and waived cornerback Mario Goodrich.

Goodrich quickly got claimed elsewhere in the NFC East, with NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reporting that he will now be a member of the New York Giants.

So expires any hope that the Eagles might be able to get Goodrich back in later roster moves. He’s been on and off the practice squad on a deep defensive backs depth chart since 2022, developing well and making his pro debut last year.

Putting Goodrich out there was a risk the Eagles were willing to take, in part because of the strong depth. But with the roster featuring cut or trade candidates like James Bradberry, having the option to bring back Goodrich at a later date would have been a nice luxury. Instead, an NFC East rival bolsters its own depth chart.
