The Philadelphia Eagles looked outside the organization for help as the offensive line in front of Jalen Hurts battles injuries during training camp.

Tuesday, the team announced it signed Nick Gates and waived cornerback Mario Goodrich in a subsequent move.

Gates, undrafted in 2018, now joins his third NFC East team after stops in New York and Washington.

The Eagles have some injury concerns up front, to the point that Mekhi Becton has actually been filling in on the first-team offense—at guard. Possible starting right guard Tyler Steen is dealing with an injury, Lane Johnson missed a recent practice, and Landon Dickerson went to the medical tent on Tuesday.

Given an opportunity due to a rash of injuries to the unit, Gates has a chance now to prove himself in the coming weeks and potentially earn a spot on the final 53-man roster.
