Short on young offensive line depth, especially following the retirement of future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce, the Philadelphia Eagles appeared to double down on that very need in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Rookie center Dylan McMahon, the No. 190th overall pick, was a somewhat surprising roster cut at the end of training camp, considering the Eagles have no clear backup center behind new starter Cam Jurgens. When McMahon cleared waivers after cut-down day, the Eagles wasted no time signing the North Carolina State product back to the practice squad.
McMahon didn’t last long, however.
The Las Angeles Rams plucked McMahon on Wednesday, signing him to their active 53-man roster along with a series of corresponding moves, including tackle Joe Noteboom heading to injured reserve.
The Eagles currently have nine offensive lineman on their active roster. Four of those players are interior lineman, including rookie fifth-round pick Trevor Keegan and third-year player Tyler Steen.
McMahon seemed to show enough promise in training camp to stick around as a reserve lineman, but he’ll get a chance to play on Sunday’s now for head coach Sean McVay and the Rams.
The Eagles announced a series of moves themselves Wednesday, signing wide receiver Danny Gray and defensive back A.J. Woods to the practice squad.
