A lot has changed for the Patriots and Seahawks since New England won in dramatic fashion thanks to a goal-line interception at the end of Super Bowl 49. The franchises will clash once again in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season, in what will be just their third meeting since that fabled game.

How different are these teams than they were in February 2015? Well, for starters, New England and Seattle have since fired legendary head coaches Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll. Also, future Hall-of-Fame QBs Tom Brady and Russell Wilson have both departed — Brady to Tampa, and then retirement, and Russ to Denver, and then Pittsburgh.
Still, there's a lot to be excited about for Pats and Seahawks fans. New England has stud rookie Drake Maye under center, and a contract extension for bruising running back Rhamondre Stevenson keeps him in Foxboro for years to come. Seattle has Pro Bowl QB Geno Smith as well as a litany of talented skill-position players including DK Metcalf and Kenneth Walker III.
This probably won't be a Super Bowl 59 preview, but it should be a very entertaining game from start to finish. With smart, young head coaches Jerod Mayo (38 years old) and Mike Macdonald (37) leading the charge, each of these teams will be raring to lock down an early victory at Gillette Stadium.
