The New England Patriots had a bad situation on their hands this offseason, as safety Kyle Dugger was unhappy having the transition tag placed on him to prevent him from becoming a free agent.

However, it seems that issue has been resolved, as NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Sunday that the team and the safety agreed to a four-year extension. Ian Rapoport followed that up with the deal's details, reporting that the contract is for a base value of $58 million with a max of $66 million and $32.5 million guaranteed.

Dugger has played in 61 games since joining the Patriots as a second-round pick of Lenoir-Rhyne. He's recorded 343 tackles (17 for a loss), 20 passes defensed, nine quarterback hits, nine interceptions, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumbles recovered.

Keeping the safety in New England allows for some stability and provides a great example for other Patriots of exactly what will get them paid in Foxboro.
