The Chicago Bears didn’t have to look very far when filling out the roster for their practice squad.

The Bears have re-signed 14 of the players they let go on Tuesday when they trimmed the roster to meet the NFL’s 53-man cap.

Most of the signees come on the defensive side of the ball, with Chicago bringing back eight defenders. Up front, defensive tackles Byron Cowart and Dashaun Mallory are joined by defensive end Jamree Kromah. Also returning are linebackers Micah Baskerville and Carl Jones.

In the defensive secondary, the Bears have cornerbacks Ro Torrence and Reddy Steward with safety Quindell Johnson.

The biggest offensive name is quarterback Austin Reed. Joining him along the offensive line are guard Theo Benedet and tackle Jake Curhan. At the skill positions, the Bears add tight end Stephen Carlson and wideout Collin Johnson.

Chicago ventured beyond the confines of Halas Hall to fill the remaining slots on the practice squad.

The Bears stayed within the division with the signings of wide receiver Samori Tour from the Green Bay Packers and long snapper Scott Daly from the Detroit Lions.

Defensive lineman Sam Roberts comes over from the New England Patriots, giving the Bears 17 total players.
