The Minnesota Vikings continue to work on fortifying the roster. On Monday morning, they announced the signing of cornerback Bobby McCain and waived kicker John Parker Romo.
McCain was a fifth-round NFL Draft pick of the Miami Dolphins back in 2015 and spent his first six seasons with the Dolphins, including 2019 and 2020 with defensive coordinator Brian Flores.
Throughout his career, McCain has played for three teams with the 2023 season being with the New York Giants. One of the difficult things with parsing out McCain is his 2023 season. He played in just 19 snaps after playing 970 with the Washington Commanders in 2022. He did have an illness toward the end of the season but still played in 10 games. In those games, he logged only 19 defensive snaps.
In a corresponding roster move, the Vikings waived kicker John Parker Romo. That awards the kicker competition to rookie sixth-round pick Will Reichard.
