One of the Chiefs' top offseason acquisitions will be sidelined for the near future.
WR Marquise "Hollywood" Brown was placed on IR by Kansas City on Friday, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
With Brown out at least four games, the Chiefs will continue turning toward TE Travis Kelce, WR Rashee Rice and rookie WR Xavier Worthy in the passing game.
Here are the latest updates on Brown's injury, how long he'll be out and how the news impacts the Chiefs' receiver room.

Marquise Brown injury details
Brown has a dislocated SC joint in his shoulder, which he will reportedly be getting surgery on. The SC joint connects the sternum and clavicle, and it helps support the shoulder.
The receiver first injured his shoulder in the team's first preseason game, and he's been held out of practice since. Originally, the Chiefs were trying to get Brown back on the field after letting him rest and recover for 4-6 weeks, but they have since decided that surgery is the best course of action with his shoulder "not healing as it needed to," per Rapoport.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Brown was feeling better but not healing correctly, so he'll get surgery on Monday and move forward from there.

How long is Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown out?
Brown is expected to miss the remainder of the season on account of his dislocated SC joint, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Friday that the receiver's injury recovery timeline is now "months not weeks," per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Kansas City signed Brown to a one-year deal in the offseason after he posted 574 receiving yards and four touchdowns for the Cardinals in 2023. His arrival fostered fanfare from a fanbase desperate for additional receiving options alongside star tight end Travis Kelce. The Arrowhead Stadium concourses will likely have to wait an additional year to see Brown haul in passes consistently.

Chiefs WR depth chart
With Brown out for a longer period, here's a look at how the Chiefs receiver room will likely shake out in the coming weeks:
Rank | Player |
1 | Rashee Rice |
2 | Xavier Worthy |
3 | JuJu Smith-Schuster |
4 | Justin Watson |
5 | Skyy Moore |
6 | Mecole Hardman |
Rice earned a team-leading nine targets in Week 1 vs. the Ravens, finishing with over 100 receiving yards on seven receptions. That makes him the clear top target for Patrick Mahomes in the receiving room moving forward.
On the other hand, Worthy also had a big Week 1 performance, but in a different fashion. Worthy had just two receptions, but those receptions went for 47 yards and a touchdown. He also mixed in a 21-yard rushing score.
Worthy looks to be a do-it-all type of weapon for Kansas City, and he'll be a key player in Brown's absence.
Smith-Schuster and Watson were the only other wide receivers with a target vs. Baltimore, and they'll be needed depth alongside Moore and Hardman as Brown recovers from his injury.
