The Los Angeles Chargers made an addition to their ever-evolving wide receiver position on Tuesday, signing a former first-round pick who was actually drafted ahead of Justin Jefferson to their practice squad.
Jalen Reagor was added by the team along with linebacker Blake Lynch. Both players will start on the practice squad, but Reagor could soon be elevated to the main roster.
Reagor was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the No. 21 overall selection by the Philadelphia Eagles, one spot before the Minnesota Vikings landed arguably the best player in the league today, Jefferson.
Reagor has played for the Eagles, Vikings and New England Patriots. He has 79 career receptions for 937 yards and six touchdowns. He is a speedy deep threat who can also be used as a kick returner, which makes sense as Derius Davis has struggled in that department so far this season.
The Chargers have only gotten 25 receptions from the wide receiver position this season and only Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey have more than five receptions.
Lynch went undrafted out of Baylor in 2020 and has played for four teams, one of which was the Chargers in 2023. He will be used mostly on special teams if he is ever called up from the practice squad but he adds an experienced veteran in that department.
