Not only is this a matchup of two of the best teams in the league, but it's a rematch from the 2024 NFL Playoffs when the Lions narrowly eked out a 24-23 win. Detroit won that battle, but it's losing the war — Los Angeles is 45-42-1 all-time against the Lions.
Another storyline from this game is the starting quarterbacks. Rams QB Matthew Stafford and Lions QB Jared Goff were traded for each other following the 2020 season, in a rare deal that proved beneficial to both sides. Stafford went on to win a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2021. Goff helped lead Detroit to its first NFC title game since 1991, its only other trip to the conference championship.

The Lions have All-Pro Amon-Ra St. Brown and second-year studs Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta, both Pro Bowlers in their first season as pros.
