If it is a day ending in the word "day," that means there are new twists and turns in the Brandon Aiyuk saga.  Aiyuk remains with the San Francisco 49ers,and Adam Schefter reports that the New England Patriots "have decided not to explore any further trade possibilities with the 49ers" for the wide receiver.

On Tuesday, it was reported that frameworks for deals were presented to Aiyuk for potential trades with the New England Patriots and the Cleveland Browns.

That would seemingly indicate that the Browns have put the only credible offer on the table; however, that could have changed, and other teams may now be involved.

It is also possible that Aiyuk could remain with the 49ers.  He has reported to training camp but has not been seen publicly on the field with the team.

Aiyuk is entering his fifth NFL season and would be playing under the fifth-year option of his rookie contract.  That option is valued at $14.1 million. He is seeking an extension before the start of the 2024 season.

Adam Schefter, appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, explained the complexity of getting a deal done for everyone involved.  There is a lot of money and people to satisfy for an NFL team to accomplish a trade with the 49ers for Aiyuk.  This explains some of the delays associated with it getting done and points to the possibility that nothing will get done, and he could remain in San Francisco.
