Los Angeles Chargers 2024 third-round selection Junior Colson just crossed a significant milestone on the road to recovery from appendicitis.

According to ESPN reporter Kris Rhim, Colson passed his physical and has been working on a different field with trainers the past two days of practice.

The good news drops about two weeks since the Chargers announced the rookie linebacker had been placed on the Non-Football Illness list. Passing the physical now means that Colson can return from the NFI list at any point, though given the recovery time of the surgery it is possible the Chargers keep it cautious and wait a few more days. The loss of live reps is somewhat remedied by Colson already knowing defensive coordinator Jesse Minter's scheme forwards and backwards. Still, the transition to the NFL is no easy task, and expectations for Colson are high as he projects to be a starter and future green dot player. A return to practice soon would allow him to get meaningful reps against Los Angeles Rams players as they face off in camp in less than a week.
