Joe Flacco’s resurgence has the Browns (10-5) on the doorstep of the playoffs ahead of a Thursday night showdown with the visiting Jets (6-9). But don’t sleep on Cleveland’s defense, either.
While Flacco has garnered a lion’s share of the headlines for the Browns’ recent success, they boast one of the most formidable defensive units in the NFL. They allow just 260.3 yards per game, the fewest of all 32 teams, and rank top-10 in passing yards allowed per game and rushing yards allowed per game.
Veteran defensive end Myles Garrett leads the way with 13 sacks and four forced fumbles, both top-10 in the league.

Cleveland’s defense poses a tough challenge for a Jets offense that has struggled through much of the season, rotating among a trio of quarterbacks in Zach Wilson, Trevor Siemian and Tim Boyle amid the absence of Aaron Rodgers. Siemian drew the most recent start against the Commanders, while Wilson was inactive with a concussion.
Second-year running back Breece Hall did his best to carry Siemian and the offense to victory on Sunday. Hall amassed 191 total yards and a pair of dynamic touchdowns: a 36-yard dash and an acrobatic 2-yard scamper. Certainly, the Jets will need that version of Hall to show up Thursday night against an imposing Cleveland defense.
