The Jacksonville Jaguars let a 17-7 lead slip away to the Miami Dolphins, losing their Week 1 matchup 20-17 on a last-second field goal. And while the loss is especially hard to swallow after seemingly having the game in hand.
In spite of the frustrating loss, the Jaguars had multiple high-end performances, one in particular from their first-round rookie.
Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. had a fantastic debut, catching all four passes thrown his way for 47 yards and an impressive toe-tap touchdown in the back of the end zone off a terrific throw from Trevor Lawrence. Thomas' performance earned him a PFF grade of 77.5, which was the third-highest of all Jaguars players, and the highest grade for any Jaguars offensive player.
Thomas also had the highest EPA per route run of any rookie receiver in Week 1.
The Jaguars will face the Browns in Week 2. And after seeing Deshaun Watson's performance in Week 1, Jacksonville should be able to pick up their first win of the season.
