The Jacksonville Jaguars couldn’t protect quarterback Trevor Lawrence in 2023, which led to the Cheesecake Factory menu of injuries he sustained throughout the season. The Jaguars also struggled to run the ball, finishing 30th in EPA per rush and 31st in rush success rate.

The Jaguars brought in veteran center Mitch Morse to strengthen the interior of their offensive line, and his deal has been tabbed as one of the best contracts in the NFL.

“The Jaguars needed a replacement for center Luke Fortner after two seasons of struggles, and they found one in Morse, whom the Bills released in a cost-cutting move,” PFN’s Dallas Robinson wrote. “While Morse may no longer be the player he was at the beginning of his NFL career, he represents a clear improvement over Fortner. His $5.25 million AAV ranks just 11th among centers.”

Morse was a Pro Bowl selection in 2022 with the Bills, and his presence in the middle of Jacksonville’s offensive line will make a noticeable difference.
