A former Jacksonville Jaguars draft pick will get a chance to compete at Philadelphia Eagles training camp after signing with the NFC powerhouse this week.

Linebacker Shaquille Quarterman, a fourth-round pick by the Jaguars in 2020, signed a one-year contract with the Eagles, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter

Quarterman had been a tryout player with the Eagles at rookie minicamp well before putting ink to paper on this new deal.

After joining the Jaguars via the draft, Quarterman spent four seasons in Jacksonville, appearing in 63 games and hitting a career-high 13 percent of base defensive snaps played in 2021. He’s seen more than 50 percent of the special teams snaps in each season, only missing a game outright during his rookie season due to injury.

Those Eagles need help at linebacker with Oren Burks getting hurt early in camp and Brandon Smith recently missing time.

As for the Jaguars, they remain deep at linebacker behind the likes of Foyesade Oluokun and added Ty Summers in free agency, plus multiple undrafted free agents.
