There are three ways this can go for the St. Louis Battlehawks as they enter their final regular-season game against the Orlando Guardians.

Win or lose, the Guardians are never going to make it to the playoffs with their 1-8 record. They're bottom of the barrel, with nothing solid to stand on. The Battlehawks (6-3), on the other hand, win or lose, could find themselves paired up against the D.C. Defenders in the North Division Championships as the 2-seed.

However, they could also tie with the Seattle Sea Dragons, and then there would be more math thrown into the equation. They definitely have the longer end of any stick they pick, but there are three options that allow St. Louis to advance, based on the XFL's tiebreaker rules:

  • Battlehawks and Sea Dragons win: Would result in tiebreaker No. 4 — best combined ranking among division teams in points scored and points allowed in all games
  • Battlehawks and Sea Dragons lose: Battlehawks advance by way of division record
  • Battlehawks win and Sea Dragons lose: Battlehawks advance by record
