Donna Kelce cookie recipe: How to make Momma Kelce's coveted chocolate chip cookies

It's no secret Mrs. Claus' real name is Donna Kelce.

Mother of the Chiefs' Travis Kelce and the Eagles' Jason Kelce, Momma Kelce is just as beloved as her sons. This holiday season, she's taking her duties even further by bringing her homemade cookies to fans in Kansas City and Philadelphia. She notably gave them to Travis and Jason before they played against each other in Super Bowl 57.

She won't be handing them out herself, unfortunately, like she did ahead of the Super Bowl when Travis and Jason faced off for the first time.

Both teams play at home on Christmas Day: the Chiefs at 1 p.m. ET against the Raiders and the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. ET versus the Giants, and fans attending those games will get a special gift: The culinary teams at Arrowhead Stadium and Lincoln Financial Field will be preparing and selling cookies using Kelce's recipe.

Proceeds will go to Operation Breakthrough in Kansas City and the Eagles Autism Foundation in Philadelphia. Aramark, the food provider for the Chiefs and Eagles, will match each donation.

“In this season of giving, it means so much to raise money for two great charities through an old-fashioned bake sale. My chocolate chip cookies have been a staple in our house for a long time, so it’s very special to share the recipe that my sons love with fans during the holidays," Donna Kelce said in a release.

Donna Kelce cookie recipe

Kelce's coveted chocolate chip cookies use the following recipe, she shared.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sweet cream butter (about three sticks)
  • 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg &1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda (dissolved in 2 tablespoons of hot water to activate)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of cake or pastry flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (Ghirardelli)
  • 1 cup milk chocolate (Ghirardelli)

Preparation

  • Melt butter in 20-second increments. Pour into mixing bowl. Let cool.
  • Add brown and white sugar and mix for 4 minutes. Scrape down sides of bowl. Add eggs one at a time.
  • Add vanilla. Mix for 30 seconds.
  • Add baking soda.
  • In a separate bowl, add all flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Mix. Slowly add to butter mixture 1/2 cup at a time. Scrape down sides of bowl.
  • Add chocolate and pecans (optional) with a spoon.
  • Put in refrigerator for at least 3 hours (overnight is best).
  • Set oven to 350 F.
  • Before baking, ensure dough is at room temperature. Scoop dough onto baking sheet, leaving a few inches between cookies, 5 minutes before baking.
  • For small cookies, bake for 10 minutes, or until golden around edges. For larger cookies, bake for 13 to 15 minutes.
  • If you touch the top of the cookie and it bounces back instead of indenting, the cookies are ready.
