The Buffalo Bills’ group of safeties already looked very different from a year ago.

Both Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde are gone after spending six seasons together as one of the best tandems in football. Buffalo signed Mike Edwards from the Kansas City Chiefs and drafted Cole Bishop from Utah in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Buffalo also re-signed Taylor Rapp, who was a rotational piece last season.

Now, the Bills are adding veteran Kareem Jackson into the mix. The former Bronco and Texan is 36 years old and entering his 15th NFL season. And while his presence can be looked at as just insurance and another camp body, it could also be looked at as more competition for players like Damar Hamlin and Dee Delaney.

Even in his mid-30s, Jackson picked off two passes in 2023. Having a respected veteran in the room after the departure of Hyde and Poyer may be what the Bills are aiming to do.
