The Chicago Bears have assembled a wealth of wideout weapons around Caleb Williams.
In acquiring Keenan Allen, extending D.J. Moore, and drafting Rome Odunze, Chicago's intentions were made clear this offseason: provide Williams with as many talented options as possible.
Tight end Cole Kmet will also serve as a lethal target for Williams in 2024, but it's Bears No. 2 tight end Gerald Everett who might be going overlooked as a crucial piece heading into the season.
In a comprehensive report published Friday, Kevin Fishbain and Adam Jahns of The Athletic mentioned Everett as a player Chicago must feature heavily this year.
"I’ve been wrong before when I’ve used this space to say that the No. 2 tight end is a sleeper for the upcoming season," Fishbain said. "But I really think Everett isn’t being talked about enough and should be an important part of this (Bears) offense."
Everett, 30, signed a two-year deal with Chicago this past March. He's also played for the Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, and Los Angeles Rams in his career.
If Chicago can utilize Everett's strengths to its benefit, defenses are going to have a lot of difficulty figuring out which of Williams's receivers to give less attention to.
