After a standoff that landed for nearly two months, the San Francisco 49ers have finally reached an agreement with their All-Pro left tackle.

Trent Williams, who has been named All-Pro following each of the last three seasons, signs a three-year deal that will pay him $82.66 million, including $48 million at signing and a $25.69 million signing bonus. His agency, Elite Loyalty Sports, announced the deal on social media Tuesday afternoon.

Even though Williams is considered by many to be the top left tackle in the game, he had dropped to sixth among offensive linemen in average annual salary. Now, only Tampa Bay Buccaneers tackle Tristan Wirfs ($28.1 million) is ahead of Williams.

Williams’ deal comes less than a week after the 49ers signed wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a four-year $120 million extension. Williams indicated that he would miss regular season games until his terms were met.

The 49ers get their second key starter back in the fold less than a week before their season opener. San Francisco has struggled without Williams in the lineup, losing four of five games last season when he wasn’t on the field for at least one half.

Williams has been named to the Pro Bowl in 11 consecutive seasons. He was drafted fourth overall by Washington in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma and was traded to the 49ers in 2020 for a pair of draft picks.

This offseason he was ranked as the seventh-best player in the NFL in an annual survey of the league’s players, the highest-ever spot for an offensive lineman.
