The Big 12 Conference, by and large, isn’t exactly pushing the envelope with season openers for its 16 football teams in 2024 — but there are a few games worth nothing.
Here’s three Big 12 football openers you can’t miss in 2024:
- TCU opens the season on Friday, Aug. 30, at Stanford. The Horned Frogs are the only one of the 16 teams to go on the road for the first game of the season. It’s notable because it will also be the first game for the Cardinal as a member of the ACC.
- Oklahoma State, which should find itself just outside of the Top 25 when the season starts, will have its work cut out for it when it hosts two-time defending FCS national champion South Dakota State on Saturday, Aug. 31, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
- The marquee game for the Big 12 in its opening weekend will undoubtedly be when West Virginia hosts Big Ten powerhouse Penn State on Aug. 31 in Morgantown, West Virginia, in what’s sure to be a sellout crowd at 60,000-seat Milan Puskar Stadium.
