Louisiana State running back John Emery, Jr. tore the ACL in his left knee in practice Tuesday and is expected to miss the rest of the season, sources confirmed to ESPN.

The news was first reported by Nola.com.

Emery, who was the Tigers' starting running back, tore his right ACL last season, in a victory over the Florida Gators. He played in only seven games last season. He was looking forward to an injury free 2024 season.

Emery ran for 61 yards on 10 attempts in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the University of Southern California in Las Vegas.

It appears as though his collegiate career is over. He had 1,123 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in six seasons with the Tigers.

Without Emery, the Tigers will rely heavily on sophomore Kaleb Jackson and senior Josh Williams, who combined for 51 yards on 15 carries against the Trojans. Freshman Caden Durham is also available.

The No. 18 Tigers host Nicholls State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will mark the 100th anniversary of LSU playing football at Tiger Stadium.
