Bret Bielema and Illinois picked up a crucial week four victory, defeating Nebraska 31-24 in double overtime. The Fighting Illini move to 4-0 on the season and are sudden contenders in the Big Ten title race.

In ESPN's recent College Football Playoff projections, Heather Dinich has the Illini in the "next four out" after their big win. Fellow Big Ten opponent Indiana is also on the outside looking in, as the Hoosiers are off to a strong 4-0 start themselves.

Quarterback Luke Altmyer was very impressive in last week's win. The former Ole Miss Rebel threw for 215 yards and four touchdowns while completing 21 of 27 passes. Wide receiver Pat Bryant was Altmyer's favorite target, reeling in five catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns.

From this point forward, Illinois's schedule gets really interesting. After a home game against Purdue on Oct. 12, the Illini will host No. 12 Michigan on Oct. 19 before a roast trip to Eugene the following week to take on Oregon. Nevertheless, they will first have to take on a very good Penn State team this Saturday in what should be another hostile environment at Beaver Stadium.
