Nebraska’s Dylan Raiola is one of college football's major storylines this offseason. The freshman quarterback has put up impressive training camp numbers, and even receiving side-by-side comparisons to Patrick Mahomes.

As a freshman, Raiola’s praise received in camp builds hype around a Nebraska team that could finally break through in 2024. The Cornhuskers look to make their first bowl game since 2016.

In their recent Big Ten preview, ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg and Jake Trotter named Raiola as one of three impact freshmen. The two analysts called the Buford, GA native “uber talented” and “clearly” more talented than the rest of the QB room.

Rittenberg and Trotter also list Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith and Michigan State WR Nick Marsh as impact freshmen to watch this season.

Raiola comes in as Nebraska’s highest-rated recruit in over a decade, according to On3.com. The freshman flipped his commitment from his hometown Georgia Bulldogs to Nebraska back in December.

It’s a real possibility the Cornhuskers could get out to a blazing hot start this season. After a much-anticipated game against rival Colorado in week 2, Nebraska hosts conference opponents Illinois and Rutgers while also paying road visits to Purdue and Indiana. This schedule sets up nicely for a freshman quarterback who will be adjusting to the college game.
