Some of basketball's best and brightest youngsters will hit the hardwood on Friday night for the 2024 NBA Rising Stars Challenge.

Four honorary head coaches — Pau Gasol, Tamika Catchings, Jalen Rose and Detlef Schrempf — have already selected their teams, setting the stage for an exciting mini-tournament. Team Pau will be looking to defend its title after it won the Rising Stars Challenge last year behind an MVP performance from Jose Alvarado.

NBA Rising Stars Challenge format 2024

Here is the full breakdown of the event, per NBA.com:

All three games in the mini-tournament will be played to a Final Target Score, which means each game will end on a made basket or free throw rather than time expiring.

The two semifinal games — Game 1 and Game 2 — will be played to a Final Target Score of 40.

The final game, featuring the winners, will be played to a Final Target Score of 25 to determine the tournament champion.
