The Celtics looked like a team that had been there before, refusing to lose focus as they came back from a double-digit deficit to beat the Pacers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday night.
Jayson Tatum had his best game of the series, finishing with 36 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, scoring 20 points in the second half to surge Boston's double-digit comeback. Al Horford (23 points, 7-of-12 3pt) and Jrue Holiday (14 points, three steals) were also instrumental in the Celtics pulling things out. Horford hit a big 3 with 1:12 remaining to make it a one-possession game (111-109). Holiday reclaimed the lead with an and-1 layup, then made a clutch steal and free throws to put Boston up 114-111 in the closing seconds.
Indiana, without Tyrese Haliburton, dominated most of the game thanks to the play of Andrew Nembhard and T.J. McConnell. Nembhard led the way with a playoff career-high 32 points while McConnell dropped 22. The Pacers led by as many as 18 in the second quarter and again with just over 6:00 to play in the third. Indiana maintained the lead until Boston tied things with 38 seconds to go in regulation, making it the second game of the series the Pacers lost due to being unable to close things out effectively.
