Those eagerly awaiting Bronny James' collegiate debut may have to wait a bit longer.
In July, Bronny, son of basketball superstar LeBron James, collapsed on the Galen Center at USC, leading to a brief hospitalization. Bronny would emerge from the ordeal OK, but his basketball future remains something of a question mark.
The James family provided an update soon after the episode, saying that the 18-year-old suffered from a congenital heart defect, but the condition is treatable, leaving the door open for a return to the hardwood.

But with the NCAA basketball season looming, it remains unclear just when James may walk through that door. The latest update does provide a bit of a hope that James should be on the court in due time.
Here's the latest on Bronny and when you can see him in a Trojans uniform:
Will Bronny James play again?
As it stands, the 18-year-old will head back to the court and play basketball for the USC Trojans at some point. On Sept. 25, USC head coach Andy Enfield said that Bronny is "doing very well," but wouldn't — and couldn't — offer a potential timeline on when James will be back on the court.
The Trojans play their first game of the 2023-24 slate on Nov. 7 vs. Kansas State, so there's seemingly enough time for Bronny to get back to basketball speed. At the moment, it's unclear if that matchup is a target debut date for James or not.
"Bronny's doing very well," Enfield said following a USC practice on Sept. 25, via ESPN. "But we just can't comment on anything medically. He's going to class and doing extremely well in school, and we're really excited for him. …
"He's around when he can be. And he's getting caught up [with] some schoolwork and doing very well. His grades are excellent right now, and he's being the true student-athlete."

The James family released a statement on Bronny's condition in July, calling it a treatable congenital heart defect, and that his hoops future remained intact.
"We are very confident in Bronny's full recovery and return to basketball in the near future," the James family said then.
Bronny has been spotted at USC football games since the beginning of the college season, so he's staying involved with the school's athletics in some way for the time being. The Trojans basketball team — and the basketball world at large — are hoping that he gets involved with them when the time is right.
