Barstool president and major Boston Celtics fan Dave Portnoy made it clear on X on how he is rooting for France to beat Team USA because of their treatment of Celtics superstar forward Jayson Tatum.

“Let me be as clear as possible. I was rooting against [Team USA], & I want France to beat them by a thousand points. I don’t care that I’m American,” said Portnoy. “The disrespect that Steve Kerr has shown Jayson Tatum throughout this tournament, has made me hate this team.”

The disrespect Portnoy was referring to was about how Tatum has seen very little court time, and has been benched multiple times. Jayson Tatum was a gold medalist in Tokyo last Olympics, and the second-leading scorer on the team, so there is no question about his abilities.

“The disrespect Steve Kerr [showed], he didn’t play him the first time, and then he’s like ‘oh I’m an idiot, how’d I not get him in,  I’m so stupid, it won’t happen again,’ does it again and blames it on math, Steve Kerr, you moron!”

Portnoy then cited Tatum’s accolades, and was dumbfounded how Tatum couldn’t get 5-10 minutes a game. He also pointed out even Tatum’s mother was voicing her frustrations about her son’s playing time.

Here’s hoping Tatum sees the floor in the final Olympic game for the gold medal against France tomorrow, August 10th at 3:30pm EST.
