Australia will host a grudge fight for gold as Dricus du Plessis defends the UFC middleweight title against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305.

Du Plessis has been on a roll, beating former champion Robert Whittaker for a shot at then-champion Sean Strickland. The 30-year-old former kickboxing champion beat Strickland for the belt in a fight with mixed scorecards. The South African looks to defend the title for the first time.

Adesanya is 2-2 in his last four contests. The fighter from New Zealand lost, won, and lost the UFC middleweight title in two years. Taking a year off from action, "The Last Stylebender" is ready to become champion for a third time.

The co-main event will see Kai Kara-France vs. Steve Erceg at flyweight. Kara-France is 0-2 in his last two fights after competing for flyweight gold. From New Zealand, Kara-France has eleven wins via knockout. Erceg lost his eleven-fight win streak against Alexandre Pantoja for flyweight gold. The Aussie has six wins via submission.
