The Yankees defeated the Royals 3-1 in Game 4 of the ALDS on Thursday night, punching their ticket to the next round of the MLB playoffs.
New York will host Game 1 of the ALCS in the Bronx as MLB begins its semifinal round of the postseason.

Who do Yankees play next?
With the Guardians defeating the Tigers in Game 5 of the ALDS, Cleveland will be the Yankees' opponent in the ALCS. This year, the Yankees went 4-2 against the Guardians, winning each three-game series 2-1.
These two teams have extensive playoff history, playing each other six times in the postseason since 1997. Cleveland won two playoff series against New York in 1997 and 2007, but the Yankees have won four, including 1998 and the last three in 2017, 2020, and 2022. This will be the second time these two teams meet in the ALCS.
When does the ALCS start?
The ALCS is set to begin Monday night in the Bronx, with the Yankees playing host after finishing the regular season with a better record than the Guardians.
By finishing off the Royals to avoid a Game 5, New York gets to rest for three days over the weekend before picking back up at the beginning of next week. The Guardians, meanwhile, have just one day of rest in between games.
