It has been a dreadful season for the Chicago White Sox. After a 61-101 finish in 2023, things have only gotten worse.

The South Siders own the worst record in Major League Baseball at 27-84. They've also lost 17 games in a row, and any hopes of reaching the postseason have long been dashed.

There's certainly trouble in paradise, and Jesse Rogers of ESPN even believes that manager Pedro Grifol has lost the clubhouse and won't be able to get it back.

"The short answer is yes," Rogers said when asked if Grifol had lost the trust of his players. "I just think there's been a leadership void since last year. You're really going to have to work hard to get that back. Maybe a veteran manager with World Series rings can lose the room and get it back but at this stage, 27-84, I'm not sure there's anything to get back."

It certainly isn't surprising that Grifol has lost the clubhouse in Chicago. The team has had a dreadful 2024 season and there's no way to salvage it at this point.

The South Siders have dug themselves a 40 1/2 game hole in the American League Central and a 34-game deficit in the AL Wild Card race. At this point, there's no digging out of these holes.

More than likely, the White Sox will have a new manager by the end of the season, as Grifol has already secured two consecutive sub-.500 finishes in his tenure as the team's skipper.

Clearly, there are a lot of problems with the team that cannot be fixed easily.
