New York Yankees claim Colby White off waivers from Rays

The New York Yankees claimed right-handed pitcher Colby White off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays, the team announced Thursday.

After claiming White, the Yankees assigned him to Double-A Somerset.

White was a sixth-round pick with the Rays in the 2019 MLB Draft out of Mississippi State. The 25-year-old hasn't yet made his debut in the majors.

In the minors, White has a 6-5 record in 91 games (seven starts). He sports a 2.83 ERA in 111.1 innings pitched with 167 strikeouts 58 walks and a 1.01 WHIP.
